YELLOW BELT SELF DEFENSE TECHNIQUES

  1. JAPANESE SWORD (AB) - STEP THROUGH PUNCH
    1. LEFT PUNCH
      Step up right foot to a 45 degree angled horse stance as you do a right upward block, left covers the ribs. Follow up with a right chop to the neck.
    2. RIGHT PUNCH
      Step back left foot a square horse stance as you do a right upward block, left covers the ribs. Turn to a right hard bow as you do a left reverse punch to the opponents solar plexus or face.

  2. CHINESE SWORD (AB) - STEP THROUGH PUNCH
    1. RIGHT PUNCH
      Step up right foot to a horse stance as you do a right inward block. Follow up with a right chop to the neck.
    2. LEFT PUNCH
      Step up right foot to a horse stance as you do a right inward block. Use your open left hand to re-grab the opponents wrist. Pull the opponent's arm down and do a right backfist to the face.

  3. DELAYED SWORD - STEP THROUGH PUNCH
    Step back left foot to a cat stance as you do a right inward block and left cover hand. Do a right front snap kick to the groin. Set right foot forward to a soft bow as you do a right hand chop to the opponent's neck. Maintain a left cover hand.

  4. KNEE OF VENGEANCE - TWO HAND FRONT SHIRT GRAB
    Step back right foot to a hard bow as you do double wrist hooks to the bend of the opponents arms. Drive a right knee into the opponent's groin. Do a right foot stomp to the opponent's left foot. Set forward in a horse stance, do a right head smash.

  5. FANG OF THE COBRA - TWO HAND CHOKE FROM THE FRONT
    Slide the left arm in between the opponent's choking arms. Step up right foot to a hard bow as you pry the opponent's arms off of the throat do a right inverted spear hand to the opponent's throat. Follow up with a left tiger claw to the eyes then do a right tiger claw to the eyes. Grab the opponent on the shoulders with both hands and pull into a left knee to the groin followed with a left stomp to the opponent's left foot as you set into a twist stance (Breaking his foot as you set).

  6. TWISTING TALON (AB) - RIGHT WRIST GRAB
    1. LEFT HAND GRABBING YOUR RIGHT WRIST
      Counter grab the opponent's left wrist by grabbing the opponent’s wrist with your right hand. Step back with the left foot to a horse stance and pull against the opponent's wrist as you do a right side kick to the body. Cross out fighting stance.
    2. RIGHT HAND GRABBING YOUR RIGHT WRIST
      Counter grab the opponent's right wrist by grabbing outside the wrist with your right hand. Step back with the left foot to a horse stance and pull against the opponent's wrist as you do a right side kick to the body. Cross out fighting stance.

  7. RETURNING DRAGON - RIGHT SHOULDER GRAB
    (OPPONENT IS GRABBING YOU WITH HIS LEFT HAND) Pin the opponent's hand to the shoulder with the left hand. Step to the left to a horse stance as the right hand does an inward break to the elbow. Grab the opponent's left shoulder with the right hand and do a right side kick to the ribs. Do a right stomp to the floor next to left leg, right side kick to the knee, cross out fighting stance.

  8. BREAKING THE SWORD - HANDSHAKE
    Step up left horse stance, counter grab wrist with left web hand and force the arm up. Adjust the right foot 90 degrees backward to 9:00. Turn to a horse stance as you break the arm down over your left shoulder. Raise the left arm up and drive a left elbow into the opponent's ribs.

  9. KENPO SHIELD - STEP THROUGH PUNCH
    Step back right foot to a horse stance as the left arm does an upward block and a right cover hand. Turn hard bow right reverse punch to the solar plexus or face. If the opponent is in close use a soft bow inverted punch instead. The left hand stays active as a cover hand during the entire technique.

  10. EVASION - OVERHEAD CLUB ATTACK
    Step up left hard bow to a 45 degree angle, left open hand parry to the wrist of the club hand, right Kung Fu wrist hook. Use the right hand to swing the arm down into the left open hand counter grab. Follow up with a right side kick to the opponent's right knee. Set in right foot fighting horse stance.
