PURPLE BELT TECHNIQUES

  1. FLOWING HANDS - (AB) MULTIPLE OPPONENT ATTACK
    1. (Opponents on each side and behind) Step to the right horse stance, right chop to the throat as the left hand covers the face (1st man), cat left foot to the right. Pivot the right foot 180 degrees to the left and land in a horse stance. Do a right four finger eye rake, follow up with a left palm to the solar plexus as the right hand covers the face. Step back left foot 90 degrees to a horse stance, right smother block to the opponent's right punch, left open hand cover ribs, right side kick to the knee (2nd opponent), right rear kick to the centerline (3rd opponent), cross out fighting stance.
    2. (Opponent on the right and behind) Step to the right horse stance, right chop to the throat as the left hand covers the face (1st man), cat left foot to the right. Pivot the right foot 180 degrees to the left and land in a horse stance. Do a right four finger eye rake, follow up with a left palm to the solar plexus as the right hand covers the face. Step back left foot 180 degrees to a horse stance, right hammerfist strike to the 2nd opponent's groin, left open hand cover the face. Drive a right side kick to the knee (1st opponent), right rear kick to the centerline (2nd opponent), cross out fighting stance.

  2. DRIVING ELBOWS - REAR BEAR HUG, ARMS PINNED LOW
    Cross the left arm in front of the right, step up left soft bow, push the left arm forward, do a right elbow to the ribs, left elbow to the face, right elbow face. Follow up with a right rear kick to the body, cross out fighting stance.

  3. CROSSING TALON - RIGHT WRIST GRAB
    (Right hand grabs the right wrist) Counter grab the opponent's right wrist. Step up left foot to a horse stance, left forearm pressure to the opponent's elbow and force down. Follow up with a left elbow to the temple and spine.

  4. CUTTING THE PAGODA - OVERHEAD RIGHT PUNCH
    Step up left horse stance, left upward block, right open hand cover the ribs. Turn hard bow to the left, right elbow ribs, left cover face, turn hard bow to the right, left elbow ribs, right hand cover the face.

  5. EAGLE PIN - TWO OPPONENTS (1st opponent takes a right punch from the front. 2nd opponent has you in a rear bear hug arms free) Do a right inward block against the 1st opponent's right punch, as you do a right snap kick to the 1st opponent's groin simultaneously. Set to the right into a horse stance, circle the arms and drive into the radial nerves on the wrists, extend the arms and drive the elbows into the base of the forearms to break the bear hug. Do a left "C" step, left elbow and right hammerfist to the chest and solar plexus of the 2nd opponent. Follow up with a right defensive wheel kick (or side kick) to the 1st opponent, set in fighting stance.

  6. STRIKING FANG - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH FROM THE RIGHT Step up right soft bow, right inverted eagle beak armpit, left covers the face, right "C" step and pin opponent's right leg, adjust the left foot 90 degrees to a horse stance, right rib smash, right ridge hand to the groin, left covers the face.

  7. CRANE LEAP - HAND SHAKE
    Counter grab with left hand against the opponent's right elbow, right crane leap to the groin as you pull on the opponent's right hand. Do a right side kick to the left knee, set in right foot to a 45 degree angle and land in a soft bow as you do a left chop to the back of the neck.

  8. SHACKLE BREAK (AB) - TWO HAND REAR WRIST GRAB
    1. Counter grab the wrists, step up left soft bow, raise the right knee into a rear kick position, pull the opponent into a right rear kick and cross out fighting stance.
    2. (For an opponent weaker than yourself) Counter grab the wrists, cross the left foot over the right to a 45 degree angle soft bow. Pull the opponent up as you turn the wrists between the thumbs, turn to a horse. Clear the opponent's right with a right elbow to the arm. Continue to circle the arm around into a right elbow to the spine. Pull the opponent into a left knee to the ribs.

  9. DRAWBRIDGE (AB) - RIGHT HAND CHEST GRAB FROM THE FRONT
    1. Counter grab with the left hand to the opponent's grabbing hand. Step up right horse stance as you do a right web hand to the throat. Do a right "C" step around the opponent's right leg, turn to a hard bow to the left, right forearm rake to the opponent's right arm. Follow up with a right drop knee to the ribs and a right sidefist to the face simultaneously.
    2. Counter grab with the left hand to the opponent's grabbing hand. Step up right foot to the outside of the opponent's right leg to 11:00 into a horse stance as you do a right web hand to the throat. Turn to a hard bow to the left, and throw the opponent to the ground. Grab the opponent's wrist with both hands, do a right stomp to the armpit. Do a right dancer behind the left and drop to the right knee, break the right arm over your left knee.

  10. KUNG FU CROSS - LEFT STEP THROUGH PUNCH
    Step back right angled horse stance, do a right open hand parry to the opponent's left punching hand followed by a left kung fu wrist hook to the punch as the right hand drops to cover the ribs. Step through right foot to a horse stance. Drive a right inverted punch up using the bend of the arm to break the opponent's arm. Follow up with a right hammerfist to the groin.

  11. GIFT - HANDSHAKE
    Step up left horse stance, counter grab wrist with left web hand and force the arm up. Break the arm down over your left elbow, right dancer step behind the left. Turn to a horse stance and swing the opponent around as you do a right spinning wheel kick to the groin.

  12. OPENING COWL (AB) - TWO HAND REAR CHOKE
    1. Cross the right foot over the left to a soft bow to 11:00. Drive the left against the outside of the opponent's left grabbing arm to block the arm off of the neck. Pivot to the rear into a left hard bow to face the opponent as you drive a right reverse punch to the ribs. The left arm continues to cover the centerline (L punch). Drive a left corkscrew punch to the opponent's right temple followed by a right reverse punch to the groin.
    2. Dancer left behind the right to a 45 degree angle to the outside of the opponent's right leg, the left arm comes up to block. Turn to a hard bow to the left as the left arm blocks and the right arm does an elbow to the ribs.

  13. SLICING DRAGON - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH
    Step up left horse stance, left inward block to the outside of the right punch. The right hand is raised ready to strike. Turn hard bow to the left, right four knuckle rake to the bridge of the nose. Left open hand cover, turn to a horse as you do a right backfist to the kidney. Turn hard bow to the right, left elbow to the ribs, right cover the face, left pin the opponent's right hand to the body, shuffle in left soft bow, right elbow to the face, left covers the ribs.

  14. CROSSING GUARD - OFFENSIVE ATTACK
    Cover ribs and kidney with the right arm, left covers the face, cross left over right, step right to horse stance behind the opponent's left foot. Do a right backfist to the face, right grab to the left shoulder, turn the opponent to face you as you shuffle in with the right foot to a soft bow. Do a left elbow to the solar plexus.

  15. ARM HOOK - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH
    Step up left hard bow, left inward block to the punch. Do a right kung fu wrist hook. Turn to a horse stance as you do a inverted palm break to the elbow. Dancer away from the opponent with the left foot and as you turn to a horse stance the left hand slides down the forearm of the punching hand. Re-grab the wrist with the left hand and pull the opponent into a right backfist.

  16. CROSSING THE SUN (ABC) - OVERHEAD CLUB ATTACK
    1. Step up left deep soft bow, raise up to a shallow soft bow as you drive double crossed reverse punches into the opponent's club hand. Grab the right wrist with your right hand, left forearm pressure to the right elbow, step left 90 degrees to the right to a horse stance. Force the opponent down and follow up with a left elbow to the temple and spine.
    2. Step up left deep soft bow, raise up to a shallow soft bow as you drive double crossed reverse punches into the opponent's club hand. Grab the right wrist with your right hand, left forearm pressure to the right elbow, dancer the right foot behind the left foot to a horse stance. Force the opponent down and follow up with a left elbow to the temple and spine.
    3. Step up left deep soft bow, raise up to a shallow soft bow as you drive double crossed reverse punches into the opponent's club hand. Grab the right wrist with your right hand, turn to a hard bow facing the right as you pull the opponent into a left tiger claw to the eyes.

  17. ASCENDING TO HEAVEN (AB) - GROUND ATTACK
    1. (You are seated in a cross leg position, opponent rushes you from the front) Raise to a fighting stance using only the legs. The foot in front when you start remains in front in your fighting stance.
    2. (If you are unable to stand up using the first method) Stand up by driving the left or right leg backward into a soft bow and then raise up to the fighting stance.

  18. ATTACK FROM THE TEMPLE (AB) - OFFENSIVE ATTACK
    1. (One opponent) Step up right horse stance, right vertical elbow to the jaw as the left hand covers the ribs. Readjust the left foot and turn soft bow. Do a right hammerfist to the groin, left covers face.
    2. (Two opponents) Step up right horse stance, right vertical elbow to the jaw as the left hand covers the ribs. Readjust the left foot 90 degrees to a horse stance to face the second opponent. Readjust the left foot and turn soft bow. Do a right hammerfist to the groin, left covers face. Drive a right front snap kick into the groin of the second opponent and cross out to the left into a fighting stance.

  19. CROUCHING FALCON - TWO HAND PUSH FROM THE FRONT Step up right soft bow, raise the hands between the opponent's arms, do double tiger claw rakes to the eyes, turn to a horse stance. Do a right vertical elbow to the jaw, left cover the ribs, right tiger claw to the eyes.

  20. DART - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH FROM THE SIDE Step to the left horse stance, right kung fu wrist hook, left cover the ribs. Cat the right foot to the left, force the punch down with the right hand, left pin the punch, step right to a horse toward the opponent, right dart eye shot.

  21. OPENING THE FAN - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH
    Step up left hard bow, left inward block to the punch, right covers the centerline, right upward block as the left hand covers the face. Do a right elbow to the ribs, follow up with a right kick behind the opponent's body as the right hand does a backfist to the left kidney. Do a right web hand to the throat as the right foot sweeps the back of the legs.

  22. BOWING TO BUDDHA - GROUND ATTACK (Right Kick or Right Knee) Seated on the left hip push up to the left knee, do a double hammerfist strike to the attacking limb driving the strike to the left. Do a right inverted hammerfist to the groin.

  23. DARKNESS - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH FROM THE SIDE
    Step out right foot at a 45 degree angle hard bow toward the opponent, do a left brush parry to the punch. Do a right two finger dart eye shot to the opponent's right eye. Step left foot through to a horse stance, left palm to the kidney as you rip out against the right eye. Right backfist to the base of the skull. Right side kick to the back of the knee, set in right foot to a horse stance. Right head smash.

  24. SWEEPING ARM HOOK - TWO HAND SHOVE FROM THE FRONT
    Step back left foot to a cat stance, do double sweeping smother blocks, right front snap kick to the groin. Set in with the right foot to a horse stance as you do a right vertical elbow to the jaw as the left hand covers the ribs. Do a right tiger claw to the eyes.

  25. SPINNING FROM THE SUN - CLUB ATTACK
    Step up left deep soft bow, raise up to a shallow soft bow, drive double reverse punches crossed into the club hand. Open hands and pin with the back of the hands. The right hand grabs the fist and the left hand grabs the wrist. Swing the arm down and strike the knee with the club, step through right to a horse stance. Left re-grab to the wrist as you take the club with the right. Lift the left arm overhead and do a left dancer behind the right to a horse stance. Hit the elbow with the club and follow up with a right wheel kick to the face.

  26. FLASHING WINGS - STEP THROUGH RIGHT PUNCH
    Step up left horse stance, left inward block, turn hard bow to left. Right elbow ribs, left covers face. Do a right elbow to the spine as the left arm imitates the same move for power. Turn soft bow to the right and do a right chop to the back of the neck as you turn to a horse stance. Follow up with a left chop to the neck as you turn to a soft bow to the right. Turn hard bow to the left, right inverted chop throat, left covers ribs.

  27. SNAPPING TWIG - RIGHT SHOULDER GRAB
    Step to left horse stance, left willow palm to the wrist as the right does a willow palm break to the elbow to break the arm. Right wrist hook and sweep to clear the arm, shuffle in right horse stance, right four knuckle rake to the nose, right rib smash, readjust the left foot, turn soft bow to the left, right hammerfist to the groin, left covers face, cross out fighting stance.

  28. PRAYER OF DEATH - GROUND ATTACK
    (Right Kick) Seated on the right hip, raise up to a right knee, drive double crossed reverse punches into the opponent's kick. Right hand grabs the knee and the left hand grabs the ankle and turns the leg. Raise up to a soft bow, right front snap kick to the groin, set forward to a right soft bow, double palms to the kidneys, left stomp spine.

  29. STRIKING SERPENT - RIGHT PUNCH FROM THE FRONT
    If opponent does a step through punch the targets for the kicks are: Ribs, knee, back. If he does a boxer's punch the targets are: Groin, knee, ribs. Step to the left 45 degree angle horse stance, immediately cat the right foot to the left as the left inward blocks the punch. Do a right snap kick, side kick, rear kick, cross out fighting stance.

  30. ARCHING BLADES - RIGHT PUNCH FROM THE FRONT Do a right inward block to the opponent's right punch at the same time as you do a right snap kick to the groin. Set forward right foot to a soft bow, drive a right and left chop to the right side of the opponent's shoulder and neck. Pivot to a horse stance as you drive a right vertical elbow to the jaw as the left hand covers the ribs, follow up with a right tiger claw to the eyes.
